Introducing Fino!

Category: New Stuff, Yarn Features

We are excited to present a new yarn in the Manos del Uruguay line. It is currently making its way to local yarn shops online and around the country! Fino is a 30% silk, 70% extrafine merino wool blend, kettle dyed in a new dye process that yields complex, subtle, tonal colors.

Currently Fino is available in eleven colorways for customers in North America; Antique Lace and Watered Silk are shown above. The yardage is a very generous 490 yards per 100g skein, allowing for many options in choosing a pattern for this 4-ply, fingering / light sport-weight yarn. It is never too early to start thinking of your next knitting or crochet project, maybe something special for you after the holiday rush is over?

Elegant and refined, Fino combines the softness of merino wool with the lustre of silk in a lightweight yarn that’s perfect for heirloom accessories or luxurious garments. We have selected a few patterns to inspire you: (from left to right) Honey cowl, Klimt Squared, and Haruni.

Please keep in mind no two skeins are exactly alike and, as with all of Manos del Uruguay yarns, there are no dye lots. Colors may vary greatly from one skein to another. We recommend buying enough yarn to complete a project. If there is great difference between skeins, we recommend working two rows from one skein and two rows from another skein to give an overall blended effect. We are looking forward to hearing your thoughts about Fino and seeing what you create! Please join us in our Ravelry group, on our Facebook page or Tweet us @manosyarns!

Holiday Ideas with Manos del Uruguay Yarns

Category: Featured Projects

This is the time of year when it seems like every second counts! While many knitters and crocheters may start to think about their holiday knitting in the mid- to late summer months, many are also carefully making their holiday crafting lists now! With several weeks between now and the time of gift giving, we have several ideas to inspire you.

Consider quick-to-knit wearable accessories including cowls, mittens, and hats.

Need a gift, but don’t want to have to worry about the item fitting the recipient? One skein of Manos del Uruguay Wool Clasica will yield four re-useable hot coffee cup sleeves. Ravelry user Carajv used Clasica in these teacher gifts! CelticKitten also used Wool Clasica in the Cabled Kindle Sleeve.

A fun and sometimes unexpected gift is a stuffed animal or “softie”. On Ravelry, Indra used less than a full skein of Manos del Uruguay Maxima to create this version of Iris, the Gourmet Monster.

Of course we don’t want to ruin any holiday surprises, but we do love to see your work. If you can, we’d love for you to share your photos on our Facebook page, in our Ravelry group or Tweet us @manosyarns! Happy crafting!
