For today’s blog post, the Fairmount Fibers team is pleased to host a stop on the blog tour for Short Row Knits, by Carol Feller. The Riyito sweater is knit in Manos del Uruguay Fino, and is the sweater that Carol is wearing for the author photo!
If you are new to knitting with short rows, this book takes you through several different styles of the technique in a variety of projects. The Riyito sweater incorporates two short row methods and calls for three to five skeins of Fino, a fingering weight blend of 70% merino, 30% silk, depending on size.
The shoulder slope is created using Japanese short rows, and the curved hem is created with German short rows. The shoulders are worked individually at first (fronts and backs), then joined to continue the body portion down to the hem. Carol has a unique yet straightforward way in which she presents the design.
You can win two skeins of Manos del Uruguay Fino! Simply comment on this post letting us know which colorway of Fino you would like to knit this sweater. Be sure to include your Ravelry ID or an email address so we can contact you if you are the winner. We will draw a winner on October 19, 2015. With your prize, you could give short rows a try with the Chirripo Short Row Ball, the Diamante Center-Out Shawl, or the Volcan Modular Wedge Scarf.
