Alegria: Above and Beyond

Alegria is an easy-care blend of ultra-soft superwash merino with durable polyamide. We enjoy hearing the response of "Oh, sock yarn from Manos!" from our fans and friends. Whether it is the incredibly soft feel of this yarn or the playful, saturated colorways that draw you in, we want to encourage you to use this yarn in a variety of projects!

Let's start with a few good sock projects. The colors will speak for themselves in a simple pattern as shown here in JenInRI's Happy Socks (top left, colorway Carnaval A8726) and Jenniferknitifer's Alegria Socks (top right, colorway Rambla Sur A9630). Sock patterns with a texture or simple lace repeat will also work well with Alegria.  Billsmom's Hypnosis Socks (bottom left) and  bobsyeruncle's Business Casual socks (bottom right) demonstrate this; each used colorway Ceibo A8686.

If you are not a sock knitter, there are still so many other projects for which Alegria is a great choice. Any next-to-skin accessory would be fantastic, as it is so soft! We have a new free pattern on our website, the Esquina Cowl, that is knit using a mitered square technique to avoid striping and pooling. Alegria by Artesano Book I is a new collection of 13 patterns including socks, shawls, bags and accessories each of which can be made with one skein of Alegria. Cheesewring, the cover design, is made up of short row wedges separated by eyelet sections. The fenella bag, knit in entrelac, makes it easy to add a pop of color to your ensemble.

The colorways of Alegria combined with machine washable (lay flat to dry) easy care makes it a great choice for babies and children! One skein was used to make EttieB's Rio Dress in the 12 month size. Kingshearte's Sunnyside is sweet and sophisticated. Mughain's Kidlet Tank brings nothing but smiles to her gal! Which colorway of Alegria is your favorite? There are 8 new colorways to add to your stash: Columbina A9009, Colibri A9102, Fondo del mar A9632, Maiz A8720, Cabaret A8105, Macachines A9453, Fuego A6527, and Otono A9375.
