Grace Akhrem + Manos del Uruguay Spring 2020
Banish the winter blahs by casting on for something new to wear this spring! The Manos del Uruguay Spring 2020 capsule collection by Grace Akhrem is full of color and attitude. Clean lines and light shapes ready your wardrobe for a new season.
Sweaters
Dudleya is a breezy t-shirt with the emphasis on the details: a vent at the side seam, cuffs on the short sleeves, exposed shoulder seams. It’s knit in Serena for a beautiful, season-spanning drape. Shown in S2302 English, you’ll need 3 - 7 skeins depending on size.
The Godetia shrug proves that mohair isn’t just for winter: knit at an airy gauge in an open eyelet pattern, it can bring the lightness you crave for spring, with just the hint of warmth you still need. The photographed sample was knit in Alegria in A2102 Juanita and Cabrito R6506 Primrose.
Shawls and Wraps
Matilija is an asymmetrical shawl in luxurious Fino, in a stitch pattern that expands from a wash of tiny stars to a scattered sprinkling. Two skeins of 419 Brass Button work up into a shawl that measures 71” high along right selvedge, 39½” across diagonal top edge, and 63½” along diagonal left selvedge.
Short-row stripes in Phacelia make a playful scarf or a dramatic wrap -- as many different moods as you can think of color combinations. The shawl version uses Alma in L2241 Humility and L2625 Patience. Alma in L21871 Mercy and L21591 Inspiration are used in the scarf. The finished shawl measures 62” long and 24¾” wide, while the scarf measures 71” long (not including tassels) and 9” wide.
Romneya features an unusual lace stitch used in a deep border and generous dimensions give this two-color crescent shawl sweep and flair. When finished and blocked, the shawl measures an 84” wingspan along the upper edge and 19½” high at the center. Accessories
Two seemingly unrelated colors of Marina dance together happily in Desert Mallow, a funnel-shaped gradient cowl. An easy slip-stitch pattern draws the eye upward through the color shift. Shown here in N0053 Filigree and N6447 Rosa.
Chickering Sage is a lightweight beanie with a bold focal element and a slouchy air. The hat circumference measures 19¾” unstretched (will stretch to about 22”) and is knit in the i2464 Lisboa colorway of Milo.
