Summer Project Round-Up

Here in the US, summer has unofficially begun.  For many, our thoughts turn to events like graduations, weddings and vacations.  Do you still feel the urge to knit or crochet, but are unsure about working with yarn as the temperature outside rises? There are plenty of projects that are good for summertime! Manos del Uruguay yarns like Lace, Serena, and Silk Blend are lightweight and luxurious. If you are travelling for an event or vacation, or even if you are taking it easy on the porch with a cool drink, check out these recent publications that include patterns using Manos Yarns

Knitscene Accessories is available as a digital download and on newsstands. The Sunehri Shawl, on the left, is a triangular shawl with a picot edge and elongated stitch pattern, designed by Denise Twum. Knit with two skeins of Maxima, you could go bold and bright as with the "Highlighter" colorway shown here or go with a more subdued and subtle colorway. There are more than thirty colors!  Shown in the center is the Lauren Sweater, found in the Interweave Crochet Summer issue, an openwork sweater punctuated with columns of solid fabric created with crochet shell stitches and a deep ribbed collar. This crochet project designed by Mimi Alelis uses Serena in the Tide colorway. On the right is the Cowl Neck Vest, in Clasica #48 Cherry, Cecily Glowik MacDonald's contribution to the Knit Red book to raise awareness for heart disease.

The Spring 2012 knit.wear is available for a digital download now and will be on newsstands June 26.  Look for the Expanding Ripples Scarf by Carol Feller which uses just one skein of Lace in the "Natural" colorway.  Also be sure to check out the Bias Lace Shell by Lisa R. Myers, worked up in Serena, shown here in "Tide". What are your favorite summer projects? Do you prefer to work with lightweight lace or would you rather work up quick one-skein worsted items? We would love to hear about it - leave a comment here, in our Ravelry group, on our Facebook page, or tweet us @ManosYarns.
