Fairmount Fibers, Ltd.
U.S. Distributor of Manos del Uruguay Yarns

Think Big!

Everyone could use an extra hand or a bit more time these days. While we can’t do your knitting or crocheting for you, we can offer suggestions for quick projects and patterns. Using Manos del Uruguay yarns like Franca and Serpentina, you still have time to cast-on and cast-off several wonderful handmade items!

Manos del Uruguay Franca

You can’t get much faster than a project with Franca! Simple stitches will show off the beauty of this yarn. The Fairmount Fibers team has ten free patterns to download for hats, cowls, mitts, and even a baby blanket! The most popular of these is the Weekend Cowl which calls for one skein and size US15 needles. For a classic vintage style ski hat, pair the Vermonter hat with a skein of Franca in Corderito, as julbugs did. The Pavement Infinity Scarf, a free crochet pattern from Fiber Flux, is a beautiful pattern in which to showcase your favorite Franca colorways. Shown above is BabyG1’s project in Granada.

Manos del Uruguay Serpentina

One of our newest free patterns is the Flecha Cowl, a super-quick knit with one skein of Serpentina. LucindaIglesias knit hers in one evening after dinner! We are thinking about using a skein of Serpentina in the Turban(d) pattern or the Onda Cowl; each originally calls for Wool Clasica. We have a curated Pinterest board, Festive Holidays, for projects of all sizes for inspiration. There are pinned a few free gift tags you can download and print, along with ideas on using yarn to wrap your presents! Of course we don’t want to ruin any holiday surprises, but we do love to see your work. If you can, we’d love for you to share your photos on Facebook, Instagram, or Ravelry!
