TNNA Columbus Recap
Last month's TNNA trade show in Columbus introduced three new space-dyed colors in Wool Clasica. This hand-spun, kettle-dyed yarn has fantastic stitch definition and felts well, too!
Traveling to Columbus from Uruguay proved challenging due to the cloud of ash from the recently-erupted volcano in Chile. For a while, it was uncertain whether or not anyone from the Manos cooperative would be able to join us (Fairmount Fibers, their U.S. distributor) at TNNA due to these unusual circumstances, but everything worked out and our booth's colorful display was a crowd-pleaser.
We were really excited to share the news about our recent admittance to the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization), the global representative body of over 350 organizations committed to 100% Fair Trade. Each skein of yarn has the artisan's signature on the tag so that the consumer knows which member of the co-op their purchase supports.
Manos’s mission is to eradicate poverty through sustainable economic development, pioneering social and environmental policy and practice, and continual reinvestment in marginalized artisans, farmers and producer communities, and we're quite pleased to have achieved this status after undergoing a rigorous evaluation process.
It was fantastic to see so many friends and fans at the show, and we're happy to report that the new space-dyed colors were a hit! Many orders were placed, and the new colors are already shipping in Silk Blend, Maxima and Clasica; Rittenhouse should be in shops by the end of the month!
