Spotlight on Milo

Wool is great for cold winter days and nights, but when the weather or temperature varies throughout the day, you want a yarn that can keep up with those changes. The wish list probably looks something like this: warm (but not too warm), lightweight (of course!), and a beautiful drape, too. If that sounds like a tall order, don't worry -our Milo yarn fits the bill! This 65% merino wool and 35% linen sport weight yarn can handle seasonal fluctuations with ease. Milo The unique nature of linen gives Milo a rustic yet elegant look. The linen retains its natural color through the dye process, giving a heathered effect.  Currently, Milo is available in sixteen semi-solid colorways Blending in linen with the merino wool to make this single ply yarn lightens the yarn. One of the unique properties of linen is its ability to absorb moisture from the skin and release it to the air. A project made with Milo will feel cool and crisp even on hot summer days.  What sort of projects can you make with Milo? Hats, cowls, sweaters and accessories - all of them! The Fairmount Fibers team has two free patterns, the Mitad Hat and Mitad Cowl; you'll only need one skein of Milo for each design. Two patterns in the 2017 Spring pattern collection call for Milo: the Braddock Capelet and the Trenton Scarf. Check out the Milo Pinterest board for even more knitting and crochet pattern inspiration. Perhaps you have heard that linen can be difficult to work with. Milo is not one of those! It has a soft hand and excellent drape. In our next blog post, we will share project inspiration for Milo from knitters and crocheters just like you!
